It appears Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods (AKA Austin Creed) of the New Day will be AEW-bound.
Fightful Select has reported that it is unanimous amongst people within All Elite Wrestling they have spoken to about wanting the tag team in the promotion, and a number of big names in AEW have been pushing internally for Kofi and Austin Creed to end up in the company.
Fightful also noted that "everyone expects AEW as the landing point" for the New Day, and that Kofi and Creed are "universally respected" within professional wrestling. The tag team will be free agents when their 90-day non-compete clauses come to an end in late July.
Kofi Kingston had been with WWE for 20 years, while Austin Creed had been a part of the organisation for 16 years prior to their exits. It emerged on May 2 that the New Day were on their way out of WWE after they had been granted their releases. This came after WWE approached Kingston and Creed about accepting pay cuts, with it very much being an ultimatum of accepting a pay cut or being released. The New Day ultimately asked to be let go, having only signed new deals with WWE in 2025 to remain with the company through 2030.
The only official acknowledgement of Kofi Kingston and Austin Creed's departures was them being moved to the alumni section of the WWE roster page. A joint statement was reportedly planned but didn't end up coming together, although WWE glowingly acknowledged the New Day's contributions to the company in private.
