How WWE Plans To Resolve Botched NXT Title Change Between Thea Hail & Blake Monroe

WWE taped episodes of NXT through to the end of 2025 on Wednesday night from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, and how the company plans to resolve the botched Women's North American Title change between Thea Hail and Blake Monroe has been revealed.

The taping for the December 23 episode of NXT featured a promo from Thea Hail that was interrupted by Blake Monroe, with the segment ultimately coming to an end after it was agreed they would face off for the NXT Women's North American Championship at New Year's Evil on Tuesday, January 6.

Thea Hail defeated Blake Monroe for the WWE NXT Women's North American Title in an unplanned title change on December 16. Monroe was booked to retain the championship, but she failed to kick out following a springboard senton from Thea Hail due to having the wind knocked out of her. As WWE referees are instructed to call matches like a shoot, the official made the three count as Monroe didn't get her shoulder up in time.

The title change resulted in a sudden scramble backstage as creative with Blake Monroe as champion had already been worked out. The unexpected title change ended the former Mariah May's championship reign after 52 days.
