Liv Morgan's alleged stalker will remain in prison ahead of his trial, which is expected to begin in November.

Shawn Chan, who is awaiting trial on charges of one count of interstate domestic violence, filed a motion on August 20 asking the court to reconsider their current position of holding him without bail as he awaits trial. Chan's attorneys argued he could be released as they had secured a Salvation Army location for him to stay at.

The United States government opposed Chan's request on September 2, arguing Chan was a danger to the community and a flight risk, and that the Salvation Army location did not meet the legal requirement for Chan's incarceration to be reconsidered. It was also argued that Chan could attempt to visit Liv Morgan's home again if he were to be released.

The court sided with the prosecution on Monday, September 15, PWInsider has reported. The court ruled the Salvation Army location was "not a significant change in circumstance", and it was also noted that a psychological evaluation of Chan had determined he has a "delusional disorder and has a delusion regarding the victim", which was cited as a further reason for Chan to remain detained.

A Canadian citizen, Shawn Chan flew from Scarborough, Ontario to Orlando, Florida on May 26, 2025, telling customs he would be staying at the WWE Performance Center while he was in the United States. Chan travelled to Liv Morgan's residence a few days later and tried to gain access to the home, trying the door handle and searching for a spare key. After failing to access the property, Chan waited for two hours before depositing a note and leaving.

Chan's note read, in part: "It's me Shawn the guy you all hang out with on [name of gaming platform] online. You've been trying to contact me, or should I say reach out to me when I'm absent from that game. So who's the stalker huh?!  I NEVER said and did anything bad for over 10 years, yet you all dared hating me for no reason. I came here to pay just a friendly visit, nothing more. Yet, I'm the one who looks like a stalker thx to all of you. And you all think I'm going to have empathy, sympathy and care about any of you anymore? I will start talking and doing whatever I want despite all your shoosh finger faces that you all make.  Yea, I just wanted to let you know that I was here."

After being recognised by WWE security, Chan was arrested by the FBI on June 3 outside of the WWE Performance Center. Chan was indicted on June 25 and he faces up to five years in prison.
