All Elite Wrestling have unveiled Women’s Tag Team Championships after months of speculation.
AEW President Tony Khan announced the creation of the championships during a trademark ‘special announcement’ on the September 24 edition of AEW Dynamite, with Renee Paquette on hand to unveil the championship belts at ringside.
Khan revealed that the inaugural champions will be crowned in the near future, but so far no dates for any sort of tournament or championship match have been formally announced.
Calls for women’s tag team titles have been ongoing for several years, with AEW reportedly having the physical belts made at some point in 2024. In Summer 2025 Khan confirmed that the belts had been made but he was waiting until several stars returned from injury before pushing ahead with plans for the division.
With the likes of Jamie Hayter, and Mina Shirakawa recently returning from injury it seems as though Khan is satisfied with the depth of the women’s roster to push ahead with plans, but whether Hayter and Shirakawa will be involved remains to be seen.
The women’s division in AEW currently contend for the AEW Women’s World Championship and TBS Championship, the titles held by Kris Statlander and Mercedes Moné respectively.
